Remember to Remember

How can we live in a place of remembering where we’ve come from, without remaining under the heavy weight of shame? To be set free from the bondage of our sin and yet protected from the tendency to become judgemental or self righteous towards others still struggling in sin?

When we remember God’s faithfulness to forgive our past, it reminds us of His faithfulness to forgive and continue to change us presently. To remember back does not contradict Paul’s declaration:

2 Corinthians 5:17  “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come. The old has gone, the new is here!”

Let us remember back, with the purpose of acknowledging and appreciating God’s grace and faithfulness.  As we remember back to where we’ve come, may our hearts be overwhelmed with gratitude and with hope in the power of redemption; and let us encourage others to do the same.
