Daily Devotion: March 26

Colossians 1:26-29 NLT
"This message was kept secret for centuries and generations past, but now it has been revealed to God’s people. For God wanted them to know that the riches and glory of Christ are for you Gentiles, too. And this is the secret: Christ lives in you. This gives you assurance of sharing his glory. So we tell others about Christ, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all the wisdom God has given us. We want to present them to God, perfect in their relationship to Christ. That’s why I work and struggle so hard, depending on Christ’s mighty power that works within me."

From the very beginning, Jesus was always the center of God’s plan. Every verse, chapter, book, poem and prophecy pointed to a hope of bringing you and I back into a right standing with God. But what exactly was the plan and how would it work? Paul says, “And this is the secret: Christ lives in you. This gives you assurance of sharing his glory.” Jesus living in us by the Holy Spirit gives us the assurance of sharing in the glory of Jesus. Stop for a moment and think about that. Through sharing in that glory we get to be in the presence of God unashamed and blameless.
After we know Jesus, then what? “We tell others about Christ, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all the wisdom God has given us.” The task is simple. Go tell others about Jesus using the knowledge God has given you with the goal to “present them to God, perfect in their relationship to Christ.” Not to breed people of religion or manufacture moral people who talk and act like you, but to bring people to a relationship with Jesus.

Bringing strangers, friends or family to Jesus might sound like it’s too hard but just remember that it will be the mighty power of Jesus working in you that will bring them to salvation.

Pause
Take a moment to stop and sincerely tell God how and why you are thankful for God’s free gift of salvation in your life.

Try This
Try writing down what you would say to someone who wanted to know about salvation through Jesus and then practice telling a friend or family member. You will be surprised at how much you will learn by verbally processing the gospel.

Have Fun
Build a fort today! In the same way we can be in a fort, Christ can be in us. When we believe and trust in Jesus to forgive us of our sins, the Holy Spirit lives in our hearts. This is “Christ lives in you. This gives you assurance of sharing his glory.”
