Daily Devotion: April 16

Luke 9:12-13
When the day began to wear away, the twelve came and said to Him, “Send the multitude away, that they may go into the surrounding towns and country, and lodge and get provisions; for we are in a deserted place here.”  But He said to them, “You give them something to eat.”
And they said, “We have no more than five loaves and two fish, unless we go and buy food for all these people.”

How many times does the Lord give us opportunities to be used by Him and we don’t step out in faith?

Here in Luke 9, we see that the people had a need and the disciples felt they couldn’t meet that need. It’s true, in their own abilities they could not but when it was given to Jesus, they were able.  When people come to us asking for help with a hard situation or difficult questions, do we send them away or think they are better off talking to a Pastor or calling the church office? We often think “I don’t know enough” or “I don’t have enough to meet this need”, but let’s not do what the disciples did and say, “send them away”.  Let’s bring them to Jesus, even though we are limited in our understanding and resources.  Let’s see what Jesus does as He multiplies the gifts He has already given us.
